Last night at our EYWB Study, we issued a challenge. A complete media fast for 30 days! As a follow-up, I wanted to give you some "un-official rules." This is in no way required, but if you want to really benefit from this exercise, you are going to have to really do it.
1. No television whatsoever!
2. No movies whatsoever!
3. No magazines whatsoever!
4. No radio whatsoever!
5. Limit internet use to school work or bible study!
6. Limit music to praise and worship!
I imagine, that if you adhere to these rules, you will be left with a bit of free time on your hands! So make a plan for filling that time with Jesus. And like we talked about, that doesn't mean sitting and reading your Bible for hours at a time. It's all well and good to expand your quiet time during this fast, but especially since it is summer, I'm thinking you are going to have to have something else to do!
Some ideas? Go and visit senior citizens who are lonely, or need some help. If you have young siblings, offer to baby sit so your parents can have a date! Offer to baby sit during the day so a young mom can have a break. Catch up on your EYWB study - remember you should be through chapter 18 by next meeting! What else can you do?
